Holistic Healing FAQs

  • Holistic healing is a co-therapeutic approach provided by coaches and therapists that considers the whole person, including their body, mind, spirit, and emotions. The goal is to achieve optimal health and wellness by gaining balance and harmony in all areas of life. Examples include meditation, sound healing, oracle and tarot card readings, journaling, breathwork, mindful movement, energy healing, plant medicine, nutrition, art, music, dancing, sharing in group healing circles, and receiving support from group members.

  • Mindfulness and Guided Meditations are helpful in reducing stress and increasing happiness. We use teachings from Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, including Informal and Formal Practices for Mindfulness and Guided Meditations.

    We practice breathing exercises to help us in our meditation practice, to access our mind/body connection. Breathing slowly and rhythmically helps relax our nervous system, giving us a sense of peace, comfort, and relaxation. This helps us to be clear in our thoughts, more focused on our tasks, more connected to those we love, more present and in-the-moment.

  • Readings provide messages and guidance from our spirit guides, ancestors, or angels (think of it like accessing your spiritual support network). We can ask questions, or simply be open to messages from spirit and the universe that come through in the form of messages written on the cards and in the accompanying guide book. These readings are helpful for all members of a group (in group readings), and include direct messages for each individual as well.

  • Holotropic Breathwork is a therapeutic breathing practice that involves fast, deep breathing for minutes to hours to achieve an altered state of consciousness. The practice was developed in the 1970s by psychiatrists Stanislav and Christina Grof as a way to achieve altered states of consciousness.

  • Sound healing is an ancient practice that uses sounds, music, and instruments to improve well-being. It's been used to heal, relax, and practice self-care for thousands of years. During a sound healing session, you lie down in a comfortable setting, close your eyes, and focus on sounds made by instruments like gongs, chimes, and singing bowls. The instruments vibrate at different frequencies for the purpose of healing, to create balance and harmony and relaxation in body, mind, and spirit.

  • Energy healing is a holistic practice that aims to balance the body's physical, emotional, and spiritual energy systems. The belief is that imbalances or blockages in these systems can cause physical and emotional problems. Energy healing is also known as biofield energy healing, spiritual healing, contact healing, distant healing, therapeutic touch, Reiki, or Qigong.

  • Mindful movement is an exercise or activity that involves focusing on what your body is doing while moving. It's a mindfulness practice that involves paying attention to the present moment, your breath, or the way your body feels as it moves. For example, during a mindful walk, you might notice the breeze against your skin, the ground beneath your feet, and nature around you.

  • Artistic expression is the way artists communicate their emotions, ideas, and experiences through various art forms, such as literature, painting, sculpture, and architecture. It can also refer to the ways in which an individual's creative abilities are given freedom to be seen in an artistic medium.

There are dark nights of the soul, deep wounds, and levels of healing that are found beyond talk therapy, in the realm of spiritual coaching and holistic healing. I believe in the power we have to turn our suffering into compassion, and to return to a place of peace, zen, and contentment, again and again.
